# 2 - HOW TO BEGIN "SCD" > * SCD COW’S MILK YOGURT RECIPE (Detailed Instructions)


SCD yogurt is easy to make but must be precise.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SET OUT:

3-Quart Double Boiler (2 pans – will have to stir constantly to keep from scorching if

heated in a single pan)

2 Quarts Organic Whole Milk or Half & Half (with no Carregenan added)

1 Whole Packet (2 sides) of Yogourmet Starter (containing: L.bulgaricus, S.thermophilus,

L.acidophilus - keep in fridge)

Yogourmet Yogurt Maker (electric)

Yogourmet Yogurt Bucket (fits inside yogurt maker)

Hand Mixer or Immersion Stick

DOUBLE BOILER & MILK OR HALF & HALF:

  1. Put about 1 ½ inch of water in bottom pan
  2. Set pan on burner and turn on ‘high’
  3. Set top pan on top of pan with water
  4. Pour milk in top pan
  5. Heat milk until tiny bubbles form around milk edge (about 180 degrees)
  6. Turn burner off
  7. Remove top pan and sit on a cool burner
  8. Let milk cool to below 100 degrees

YOGURT  BUCKET & YOGOURMET STARTER:

  1. Pour about 2 cups of cooled milk into yogurt bucket
  2. Cut top edge of Yogourmet Starter packet off
  3. Pour Starter into the cooled 2 cups of milk in yogurt bucket
  4. Mix very well with Hand Mixer or Immersion Stick
  5. Pour the rest of the cooled milk into the yogurt bucket
  6. Mix again with Hand Mixer or Immersion Stick
  7. Snap top on bucket

ELECTRIC YOGOURMET BUCKET:

  1. Put water in bottom of Electric Bucket up to top of top mark
  2. Float yogurt bucket inside Electric Bucket
  3. Place lid on electric bucket
  4. Plug in and let ferment 24 – 30 hours (undisturbed)
  5. Unplug electric bucket
  6. Carefully remove and dry yogurt bucket off
  7. Place in refrigerator to cool and set up for at least 2 hours
  8. Eat a cup a day . . . to keep the doctor away  J(if sensitive to dairy - drip and start with ½ t. morning & night and build up slowly to build tolerance)

WEIGHT GAIN SMOOTHIE RECIPE (after healing has taken place):

Buzz together:

1 C. SCD lactose free yogurt

1 Banana

6 Strawberries, peach slices, or mango slices, or handful of blueberries

2 T. Almond Butter, Cashew Butter or Tahini (with no additives)

Honey if desired

Optional: 2 drops Vanilla Extract
